Questions & Resources

What Folks Ask About the Most:

This page answers common questions about book printing, self-publishing, paper selection, and more. For more information, you can contact us here.

What kinds of printing do you do?
We handle everyday and complex printing for nonprofits, organizations, and businesses — including stationery, reports, books, packaging, and large-scale commercial work. If it’s printed and needs to be done correctly, we can help.

Do you take small jobs as well as large ones?
Yes. We work on everything from short runs to high-volume production. The same standards apply regardless of size.

Can you help if I’m not sure what I need yet?
Yes. Many projects start with questions around format, paper, quantity, or timing. We’ll help you clarify what’s required before anything goes to press.

How long does printing take?
Timelines depend on scope, materials, and finishing. We’ll outline a realistic schedule up front and flag any constraints early.

Do I need to be in New York?
No, most projects are handled remotely. Proofs and samples can be shipped as needed. We work for folks all over the country.

How do you price jobs?
Every job is quoted based on specifications, quantity, and schedule. Pricing is clear, realistic, and aligned with the work required.

If your project isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you.

Envelopes come in a wide variety of styles and sizes. Planning your project around readily available envelope formats can save both money and time — unless you’re after something custom or more distinctive, which we can also produce. Don’t forget to size your printed piece at least ¼ inch smaller in each dimension than its envelope for the best fit. Here are some abbreviated lists of standard envelope sizes:

Paper Weights & GSM Conversion

Paper weight can be confusing because U.S. pounds (lbs) and GSM (grams per square meter) measure paper differently. Here’s a quick guide for converting text weights, cover weights, and common print stocks for U.S. and international printing.

Text Weight Papers

  • 50# Text ≈ 75 GSM

  • 60# Text ≈ 90 GSM

  • 70# Text ≈ 105 GSM

  • 80# Text ≈ 120 GSM

  • 100# Text ≈ 150 GSM

Cover Weight Papers

  • 65# Cover ≈ 175 GSM

  • 80# Cover ≈ 215 GSM

  • 100# Cover ≈ 270 GSM

  • 110# Cover ≈ 300 GSM

  • 130# Cover ≈ 350 GSM

Formula

  • Text: 1 lb = 1.48 GSM

  • Cover: 1 lb = 2.708 GSM

International vs U.S. Paper Sizes

  • A3 — 11.69 x 16.54 in (297 x 420 mm)

  • A5 — 5.83 x 8.27 in (148 x 210 mm)

U.S. Standard Sizes

  • Letter — 8.5 x 11 in (216 x 279 mm)

  • Legal — 8.5 x 14 in (216 x 356 mm)
